Negotiations Dates Set For School

Representatives for the Wolf Point Education Association and Wolf Point School Board met to set dates for contract negotiations during a meeting at the school district office on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Education association co-president Patricia Toavs requested from the school district a certified list regarding the seniority of teachers and a list regarding where teachers are placed on the salary schedule at the moment.

“We need those two things before the next meeting,” Toavs said.

Education association representatives said they are working on preparing a “wish list” based on surveys completed by school employees. The surveys were supposed to be turned in by the end of the week.

The survey asks employees for their concerns and hopes for the school district.

Meeting dates were set for Tuesday, Jan. 14, and Tuesday, Jan. 28. The meetings will start at 6 p.m. in the high school library.

Representatives said possible additions to the contract might be current memorandums of understanding regarding the sick leave bank and employees getting paid twice a month.

The school board is represented by chair Roxanne Gourneau and Robert Manning at the negotiations meetings.

This is the final year of a threeyear contract for the Wolf Point Education Association. The Wolf Point School Board ratified a three-year collective bargaining contract in November of 2022. That agreement called for a 6.5 percent base salary increase for the 2022-2023 school, a 2 percent increase for 2023-2024 and a 2 percent increase for 20242025. In addition, longevity pay of $1,750 for 20 or more years of service and $1,000 for 15 or more years of service was approved. The base salary was $35,148 for 2022-2023, $35,851 for 2023-2024 and $36,568 for 2024-2025.
