Commissioners Set Meeting Times

Roosevelt County Commissioners set meeting times and office hours for 2025 during a meeting held on Monday, Jan. 6.

At the start of the meeting, presiding officer Gordon Oelkers welcomed Doug Marottek as the new commissioner for district 2. He encouraged Marottek to ask him or Commissioner Robert Toavs if he has any questions or needs information.

Commissioners approved a resolution to have meeting agendas posted at the county courthouse and the county building in Culbertson. Agendas will also be emailed by 11 a.m. on Fridays in order to provide 48 hour prior notification for Tuesday meetings. Commissioners usually hold their public meetings at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Commissioners’ official office hours are from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

All other county offices with elected officials are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Public notices will be posted in the main hallway at the courthouse as well as the county building in Culbertson.

Commissioners also set meals and mileage rates during the meeting. Meal allowances are $10 for breakfast, $12 for the noon meal and $17 for the evening meal. Oelkers said those rates haven’t changed during the past few years.

Mileage rates are 70 cents a mile for the first 1,000 miles and 66 cents a mile after that distance.

Based on state regulations, lodging rates are $110 except when staying in the state’s longest seven cities.

The rate of credit for incarceration, set by the sheriff, will remain at $50 per day.
