Bainville Girls Defeat Brockton

 

The Bainville Bulldogs gained a nice lead in the third quarter and downed Brockton, 53-42, at home on Saturday, Jan. 18.

The undefeated Bulldogs held a 29-23 half-time advantage as senior Elsie Wilson scored 18 points in the first half.

Bainville then started the third quarter with the first seven points on an inside shot by Lila Butikofer, a turnaround shot by Tally Berwick, a free throw by Wilson and a steal and pull-up jumper by Hailey Berwick.

Brockton fought back on five points by Marlene Fish, but Bainville reeled off the next eight points on five points by Wilson, a three-pointer by Addison Hansen and a hoop by H. Berwick for a 46-19 advantage.

The Warriors scored six of the last seven points of the quarter to cut the margin to 47-35.

A three-pointer by Tamryn Bauer pulled Brockton to 4942 with 3:35 remaining, but Bainville held the Warriors scoreless the rest of the way.

Bainville’s top scorers were Wilson with 24 and H. Berwick with 11 points. Also scoring were T. Berwick with six, Butikofer with five, Miah Pippenger with four and Hansen with three.

Bauer finished with 16 points to lead Brockton. Also scoring were Fish with nine, Ava Lone Bear with nine and Quintana Young with eight.
