Froid/Lake Falls Short To Thunder

 

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks suffered league basketball losses against MonDak on Saturday, Jan. 25.

In the girls’ game, MonDak posted a 43-39 victory over the Red Hawks.

The Thunder jumped out to a 19-12 lead in the first quarter and gained a 20-16 half-time advantage.

MonDak increased the gap to 32-22 in the third quarter and held on for the win.

Mara Salvevold led the Red Hawks with 18 points and Brooklyn Nordwick added nine points.

Also scoring were Addison Elvsaas with three, Leah Murray with three, Isabelle Nordwick with two, Avery Johnson with two and Joelle Davidson with two.

After a good start, Froid/ Lake’s boys lost by a 59-51 final.

The Red Haws took a 16-11 lead in the first quarter. Carson Kelm and Rylan Young each scored five points in the quarter. The Red Hawks held a 27-23 half-time advantage.

MonDak scored 19 points in the third quarter for a 42-35 lead. The Red Hawks’ Cody Olson hit two three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Kelm led the Red Hawks with 16 points. Also reaching double figures were Young with 11 and Roberto Orozco with 10 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Olson with eight, Joseph Robertson with four and Jacob Nordlund with two points.

Dillon Wade accounted for 24 of MonDak’s points.
