Florence Eagleman
Florence 'Wospi' Eagleman, 88, died Jan. 27, 2025, in Poplar.
Born on June 12, 1936, in Poplar to William Youngman Sr. and Ruth Standing Bear, she dedicated a significant portion of her life to the community, serving as a teacher's aide at Poplar Elementary School for many years. Her passion for education was evident in her work, and it broke her heart when she had to retire.
She had a multitude of interests and hobbies that reflected her vibrant spirit. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting with her son Dennis and fishing with her partner Joe. An avid reader, she was especially fond of Westerns by Louis L'Amour and romance novels. She also had a unique talent for trivia. She frequently watched Jeopardy and could recall answers with remarkable accuracy. Additionally, she took great pleasure in attending pow-wows, going on cruises with friends, playing cards in the morning while listening to the radio and maintaining a close friendship with her neighbor Noreen over the years.
She is survived by her three daughters, Nadine Richards, Della Brown and Joanne Browning; brother, Michael Youngman Sr.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by siblings, Lucy Youngman, William Youngman Sr., Josephine Youpee, Douglas Youngman, Christine Lizotte, Larry Youngman, Nettie Myrick and Rita Long Chase; and her son, Dennis Red Boy.
Funeral services were held Feb. 4 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment was at Box Elder Cemetery.
