Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 76 calls from Jan. 27 to Feb. 3.

The calls included: Jan. 28

Deputies responded to the Culbertson area for a report of a disturbance and arguments. One male in a semitruck followed another male driver into a gravel pit, argued and made threats.

Deputies responded to the Poplar hospital for a report of an assault. One female claimed she was assaulted and went to the emergency room. Information was forwarded to the tribal prosecution office.

Jan. 29

Deputies responded to the Poplar city limits for a report of an assault. A male claimed he was struck in the eye. Deputies issued a citation for assault to an adult female into tribal court.

Deputies assisted the Wolf Point City Police by transporting an adult female to tribal jail on authority of a warrant.

Deputies assisted the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice on a search for an adult male in Poplar wanted on a federal warrant. Law enforcement couldn’t locate him.

Jan. 30

Deputies took a complaint in Froid regarding stolen tools.

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 2 near Culbertson. No injuries were reported.

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ with a report of burglary in Brockton. A resident heard glass breaking in her home.

Jan. 31

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ and Poplar ambulance in Poplar with a fight involving two males. One of the males had stabbed the other. FPTDLJ arrested an adult male.

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ on BIA Route 1 for a report of a restraining order violation. Zach Whitehawk, 37, was located and arrested for violating a tribal restraining order.

Feb. 1

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ and Poplar ambulance on a report of a suicide attempt. The male was found and transported to the Poplar hospital. He was then taken to tribal jail on authority of a warrant.

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ and Wolf Point ambulance on the report of a large fight near Ribbit Kaws. A window was broken. Law enforcement continues to investigate.

Feb. 2

Deputies responded to Fort Kipp for a report of the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. A relative took a car without permission. The vehicle was located and secured.

Feb. 3

Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance by two males at Gracie’s Bar in Bainville.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report activity statistics for the past week were: Wolf Point city limits, six; Wolf Point rural, six; Poplar city limits, 12; Poplar rural, one; Poplar FPHA all other, 14; Culbertson town, six; Culbertson rural, six; Bainville town, three; Bainville rural, 10; Froid Town, three; Froid rural, one; Brockton town, five; Brockton rural, one; Fort Kipp, two; total, 76.
