The Bainville Bulldogs ended the first half on a 10-0 run and earned a 51-18 home girls’ basketball victory over Culbertson on Friday, Feb. 14.

The game’s first six points were scored by Berwicks as Bainville’s Tally and Hailey along with Culbertson’s Emma each got into the scoring column. Bainville gained an 8-2 lead on a 12-footer by Elsie Wilson and a basket by Miah Pippenger off a long pass from Wilson.

Bainville held a 10-4 lead at the end of the opening quarter, but the Cowgirls pulled to 12-8 on a pair of free throws by Mariana Burciaga and a drive by Leandra Perkins.

The Bulldogs then started their 10-0 streak on a pair of free throws by T. Berwick and a 14-footer by H. Berwick. A free throw by Wilson and a fast-break hoop by Lila Butikofer put the margin to 198. Pippenger connected from three-point range to end the half at 22-8.

Bainville then opened the third quarter with six straight points on an inside shot by H. Berwick and four points by Pippenger. Culbertson’s Ayden Ator fired in a three-pointer to cut the margin to 28-11.

A hoop by Butikofer and a three-pointer by H. Berwice gave the Bulldogs a 35-13 advantage after three quarters of play.

Leading Bainville’s attacks were H. Berwick with 13 and Pippenger with 12 points. Wilson finished with nine points.

Also scoring were Butikofer with six, T. Berwick with five, Jodi Albus with two, Addison Hansen with two and Chandi Johnson with two.

Scoring for the Cowgirls were Leandra Perkins with four, E. Berwick with four, Ator with three, Payton Labatte with two, Mariana Burciaga with two and Anna Steppler with two points.
