Lions Post Conference Victory In Circle, 61-49
Lustre’s boys’ basketball squad avenged a loss from earlier this season by earning a 61-49 conference victory in Circle on Saturday, Feb. 8.
The Lions took a 20-7 advantage in the first quarter en route to the win.
After Circle fought back to 35-27 at the half, Lustre increased the margin to 49-36 in the third quarter.
The Wildcats came as close as eight points in the final period.
Johnslee Pierre had a big night as he led the Lions with 23 points. Prestyn Klatt also reached double figures with 15 points.
Clay Reddig and Byron Ewing added eight points each. Also scoring were Joel Reddig with five and Cam Reddig with two points.
Circle’s top scorers were Duke Williamson with 16 and Kash Ereaux with 10 points.
In the girls’ game, Circle ran off to a 66-25 victory.
After leading only 8-7 at the end of the first quarter, Circle struck for 23 points in the second period for a 31-11 half-time advantage.
The Wildcats led 52-18 at the end of the third quarter.
Leading Lustre were Lauryn Holzrichter with eight and Samantha Neufeld with seven points. Also scoring were Sidney Klatt with four, Kencia Brown with three, Jaden Gibson with two and Lauren Fast with one.
Madeline Moline and Charlie Moline each scored 16 points for Circle.
