Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 66 calls from Feb. 17-24.
Feb. 18
Deputies received a report that an individual took some items from a residence in Froid. It was determined that it was a civil matter.
Deputy/coroner responded to an attended death at the hospital in Poplar.
Deputies responded to Poplar tribal housing for a report from an adult female that her nephew was making threats and had a knife. Deputies made contact with both parties. The male didn’t have a knife.
Deputies received a complaint of a reckless driver. Deputies and Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice investigated the complaint.
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ at the B& S Quick Stop in Brockton regarding a male resisting arrest. The male apparently took his clothes off, except for his pants, on a bus and then went into the store. He was transported to a hospital and then to the tribal jail.
Deputies received an animal neglect complaint in Froid. Deputies contacted the pets’ owners and he took the dogs inside his house.
Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to Poplar tribal housing for a complaint of an adult male trying to fight other individuals. He was arrested on the tribal charge of disorderly conduct.
Feb. 19
Deputies went to the Family Dollar store in Poplar for a report of an individual who locked himself out of his vehicle.
Feb. 20
Deputies received a request from Williams County, N.D., to be on the look out for a reckless driver heading to Montana on Montana Highway 327.
Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to TJ’s Quik Stop in Poplar regarding a male who had a warrant for his arrest. Officers saw a male smoking from a glass pipe in the parking lot. Cahann Escarcega, 44, was charged with driving a vehicle in violation of a court order and being in the possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to tribal jail.
Feb. 21
Deputies received a noise complaint in Fort Kipp. An individual was lighting fireworks. Deputies spoke to the individual.
Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police Department to remove two intoxicated males from Lucky Lil’s.
Deputies received a report regarding a missing female. She was last seen at a casino in North Dakota. She was entered into a missing persons alert computer program.
Feb. 22
Deputy/coroner assisted Wolf Point ambulance and FPTDLJ with a deceased male, in his 40s, found on Alder Street. Foul play is not suspected.
Feb. 23
Deputies received a report of two men were walking west of the state line on U.S. Highway 2. The men were carrying bags. Deputies located one of the men and drove him to the state line.
Deputies responded to Cenex East in Wolf Point for a report of a robbery at about 9 p.m. A male in his mid 20s grabbed items from the meat counter and took off.
