Cowboys Fall To Savage In Semi-final Round
In a semi-final round boys’ basketball contest, Savage enjoyed a good start and downed Culbertson, 60-34, on Friday night.
Ahead by a 5-4 margin, the Warriors scored the game’s next 10 points on the scoring of Zane Pilgeram and Adden Erickson.
Culbertson’s Brooks Solem accounted for a three-pointer and another hoop late in the period to close the margin to 17-9.
Savage struck for the first 14 points in the second period for a 31-9 margin. Sayer Erickson fired in two three-pointers during the streak.
The Cowboys scored on baskets by Bridger Salvevold and Soleum later in the half. Savage led 35-13 at intermission.
Down by a 45-17 margin in the third quarter, the Cowboys fought back with seven straight points on a three-pointer by Plenny Williams, a pair of free throws by Salvevold and a coast-tocoast drive by Ian Snyder.
Savage’s Braxton Shaw connected on a three-point shot late in the quarter for a 51-26 margin.
Williams led Culbertson with seven points. Also scoring were Snyder with six, Salvevold with six, Solem with five, Gavin Deen with four, Mark Kirkaldie with four and Cal Steppler with two.
Kirkaldie had eight rebounds and Salvevold grabbed seven boards. Dawson Bergum and Kirkaldie each had three steals.
Leading Savage were Hunter Sanders with 13, Pilgeram with 13 and S. Erickson with 12 points.
Sanders finished with 11 rebounds. A. Erickson had four assists.
