Lady Wolves Fall To Glasgow Squad


Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball team struggled offensively for much of the second quarter and fell short against Glasgow, 48-34, in the first round of the District 2B tournament in Glasgow on Wednesday.
The Wolves trailed by only an 8-7 margin at the end of the opening quarter, but Glasgow ran off the first 18 points of the second period for a 26-7 lead. Joely Chappel scored 10 of the points.
A free throw by Ma’Kenzie Jackson ended Glasgow’s streak. Brenna Blount then fired in a three-pointer.
After a three-point play by Glasgow’s Mayzie Yoakam, the strong inside game of Jackson resulted in the next three points to cut the margin to 29-14. The Wolves ended the half on a good note when Keeley Blount-Henderson hit a three-pointer for a 31-17 score.
A three-point play by Jackson and a drive by Blount-Henderson pulled the Wolves to 33-24 midway into the third quarter. The Scotties, however, went on to hold a 42-27 lead at the end of the period.
Highlights for the Wolves during the fourth period were two baskets by Blount-Henderson and a three-pointer by Blount.
Top scorers for the Wolves were Blount-Henderson with 13 and Jackson with 12 points. Blount added nine points.
Leading the Scotties were Chappel with 20 points and Yoakam with 11 points.
