TEB Approves Grant Requests, Contracts
The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board held its full board meeting Feb. 24 in Poplar.
The board approved an amended resolution to take the business plan for the meat processing plant and authorize the Economic Development Office to apply for and administer USDA Rural Business Development Grant funding.
Board member Jestin Dupree was appointed to represent the Fort Peck Tribes for the tribal government of Montana for the VA of Indian Country.
The board passed a motion to implement and require HR Form 95 to be used and completely filled out for all future contracted employees.
A motion was passed to offer only salary compensation to contract employees and to bring all employee contracts through human resources and the compliance officer/ internal auditor.
The board voted to recommend Cordell Ringel as transportation consultant to work with the Tribal Transportation Department and the BNSF Railroad to facilitate the planning, design and construction of an above grade overpass crossing over the A& S Road and that once the planning, design and construction documents are completed by BNSF.
A services contract was approved with Ecology International to generate lessons and trail activities as conducted in Yellowstone Nation Park with field trips to the Fort Peck Reservation, with a cost of $70,276 for the period of June 1, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2027.
A contract with BP Construction was approved in the amount of $337,100 to clean up the Gateway Motel location in Poplar.
A contract modification with Suzanne Boyd for consulting services was approved under the Spotted Bull Recovery Resource Center in the amount of $72,000, effectively immediately.
The board approved entering into a professional services contract with Interstate Alarm in the amount of $21,809 with a monthly monitoring fee of $73 to be paid out of the third party billing funds. A grade and step increase was approved for the two TSHIP enrollment specialists, effective retroactively beginning in Feb. 21.
The board approved Red Bird Women Center to submit a grant application for funding under O-OVC-2025-172320.
A request was approved to submit for the PWNA 2025 Community Investment Project through the Partnership with Native Americans Community Investment.
The board authorized the tribal operations officer to disburse payment to Sonosky & Chambers for legal services in the amount of $14,537.20 for the month of December.
An amended resolution was approved to clarify that the daily meeting stipend is to be set at $150 per regular scheduled meeting with no local mileage included. Any other emergency meetings would be set at a $50/day for all tribal entities and tribal programs The Law Office of Cherie Old Elk, PLLC, was approved to review all professional services, construction and health professional contracts for all programs under the Tribal Health P.L. 93-638 Master Contract.
The next full board meeting is set for March 10.
